Got Questions? We've Got Answers!
Do I need dance shoes?
Absolutely Not! In fact, most students who start lessons don’t have them. As long as your shoes are comfortable and don’t stick to the floor, they’ll be fine. However, if you’d like to get a pair of dance shoes, we can help you do that! Shoes made for ballroom dancing have suede soles for the right amount of grip and slip on the dance floor. Many salsa dancers choose to wear them in the club because they are flexible and better for dancing. If you would like dance shoes, just let us know and we can help put you in the right direction, and if you're curious about what to wear in general, have a look at our tips on how to dress for dance class.
What if I need to cancel my lesson?
No problem. We just ask for a 12 hour notice so our dance instructors can give that valuable time spot to another student. Should you have to cancel at short notice you we’re flexible, reschedule your lesson within that week at no charge. So let us know as soon as you can and leave the rest us.
What will I learn in my lessons?
Your instructor will focus on meeting your immediate dance needs, whether it’s getting ready for a special occasion, such as wedding dance lessons, or learning a certain dance style. Your instructor will get you moving and give you personalized instruction on various aspects of dancing like patterns, timing, styling, and lead or follow. Group classes are an important part of your learning. They give you the opportunity to dance with a variety of partners at your own level while developing good habits and meeting new people. The practice parties are where the real fun begins. We create a relaxed and comfortable environment where you can get some real-world experience applying what you learned with students and teachers. As you work together, you and your instructor will determine what your future dance needs may be so that they can create a customized program just for you.
Why should I learn more than one dance?
Wherever you go out dancing they are going to play more than one type of dance. A wedding or fundraiser DJ, for instance, will play everything from Swing, Cha Cha, Salsa, and Rumba to Fox Trot, Waltz, and maybe Tango. All dances have the same concepts involved, so there are great benefits to learning more than one dance at a time. The Arthur Murray Interrelated System makes it easy by teaching you how to use one step in multiple styles of dance.
Our professional instructors also teach other specialized dance lessons for your specific needs and interests.
